Project: Black Butte Landfill
Client: Siskiyou County
• Phased closure/corrective action
• 30-acre HDPE closure cap
• Collocated replacement transfer station
L&A developed a phased closure plan as a method of corrective action for a 30-acre municipal waste landfill. Phased closure allowed the owner to meet regulatory requirements while meeting funding constraints. With consideration of future development, the borrow area grades were designed to provide a building pad for the new transfer station. Recently, a L&A drilling crew obtained soil borings for geotechnical analysis prior to engineering and construction of the transfer station.

Project: Weaverville Landfill Closure and Transfer Station Construction

• Closure of a 14-acre landfill
• 15-ton per day solid waste transfer station
• Material recovery facility (MRF)
The project also included design and construction observation of an office & shop complex, a juvenile detention facility, and utility extensions |

• L&A coordinated excavation of clay for a closure cap that also created the building pad for the
• Juvenile Detention Facility.
• The cost of the closure work was leveraged as matching funds for a grant for construction of
• the Juvenile Detention Facility.
• L&A brought the project to completion under budget and on time. |
